The Walden Chamber Players are a large group of dynamic and versatile chamber artists and soloists who team up to perform at concerts in the US and abroad. As sought-after teachers, they also serve on the faculty of some of the country’s best known musical teaching institutions, such as the New England Conservatory of Music, University of Michigan, Boston University, and the Boston Conservatory. Playing today are:
Curtis Macomber, a most versatile musician, has performed with the New World String Quartet in the US, and abroad. He is violinist with Speculum Musicae, a founding member of the Apollo Trio, and member of the faculties of the Juilliard and the Manhattan Schools of Music. He has taught at the Tanglewood, and Taos, Festivals.
Christof Huebner, violist, Artistic Director of the Walden Chamber Players and a member of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, was born and first studied in Vienna, then in the US with Hatto Beyerle, and Michael Tree. He has played with the Guarneri and the Alban Berg Quartets, the Boston Chamber Music Society, and many others.
Ashima Scripp, cello, has performed with orchestras, ensembles, and in recital in concert halls around the world, and received top prizes at prestigious competitions. With degrees at the Manhattan School of Music and Northwestern U., she is on the faculty of the Longy School of Music and Concord Academy in Massachusetts.
Donald Palma, bass, is a founding member of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and received his formal education at the Juilliard School before joining the American Symphony Orchestra. He has appeared with the Juilliard Quartet, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and has recorded over thirty CDs of contemporary works.
Jonathan Bass, piano, graduated at the Juilliard School and Indiana University. He appears world-wide as soloist and chamber musician, has won First Prize at two national piano competitions, and chaired Piano Departments of Boston University and Conservatory. He can be heard on radio, and has recorded many CDs.
