Winsor Music with Peggy Pearson, oboe

Peggy PearsonWinsor Music was founded in 1996 by Peggy Pearson, who serves as oboist, and artistic director, with the Winsor Music Chamber Series in Massachusetts, and as Boston Philharmonic’s principal oboe. She has toured internationally, recorded extensively with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, appeared with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra as principal oboist, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and Music from Marlboro. Additionally, Ms. Pearson has performed the complete cycle of sacred cantatas by J. S. Bach with the Emmanuel Chamber Orchestra as solo oboist. She has been an active exponent of contemporary music, as well.

Georgia native Gabriela Diaz began her musical training at the age of five, studying piano with her mother, then viola with her father. After a bout with lymphatic cancer, she has lent her talent and time to many related causes. She holds degrees from the New England Conservatory, has appeared at a great many music festivals, and her accomplished playing is well reviewed by Boston critics.

Noriko Herndon, the versatile and prolific Assistant Principal Violist of the Albany Symphony’s since 1999, joins the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra this year, also as Assistant Principal. Born in Japan, she has degrees from Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music, with post-graduate studies at Cincinnati University’s Conservatory of Music.

Rafael Popper-Keizer is the Boston Philharmonic’s principal cellist. He holds a New England Conservatory master’s degree in music, and has made his career in Boston ever since, becoming a regular with many ensembles there, as well as with many others throughout New England. He has recorded multiple CDs on many labels.

Lev MamuyaFifteen year-old Lev Mamuya is in tenth grade, has played the cello for the past 11 years, and studies at the New England Conservatory. He gave his first solo recital at age five, appeared as a soloist with an orchestra at age eight, and won the Newton Symphony concerto competition in 2007. Lev also composes music, reads, hikes, plays video games and basketball, plus he is a fervent Boston sports fan.
